Zurch Trees Overview Shot
14 Feb 2026
I took a tram to the edge of the city one morning, mist in the air and fingers stiff from the chill, and ended up on the Uetliberg Ridge Trail.
It is the kind of departure that feels almost too easy. One moment you are surrounded by morning routines and tidy storefronts, and the next you are watching the pavement give way to soil. The air changes first. It turns cooler and cleaner, like someone opened a window you forgot was there.
Thirty minutes from downtown, and suddenly I am breathing pine, listening to birds instead of espresso machines.
A forest, in a city. No fences, no entry fee.
Just you and the trees and maybe a fox if you are quiet.
I like that the best moments are not guaranteed. The trail offers endless possibilities for creativity.
