Unpopular opinion, every business should be using AI.
It's a tool, not a replacement for a human being. Especially in customer service.
The worst case I've had is recently my phone provider proactively called me. I answered with a cheerful "hello, this is Josh"... a moment passed, the most robotic voice responded with a "Hi, this is Spark-".
Immediately ended the call.
They paid for that call, for their team to build system, likely for training the voice.. only to have it end within 6 seconds and I'm now looking at other providers.
This is the boundary with AI. It is a tool, not a replacement for the human connection.
If it was a person on the other end of the call I'd be happy to take the call and find out what it was regarding, perhaps more expensive to pay a person but what is the value of retaining a customer vs the cost of a person calling them?
AI is a research assistant, a translator, code writer, a summary generator, a helper, a cog in the machine of data and media processing.
Everyone should adopt the usage of it, but don't kill the experience for people.
