Old Town

Florence, under a patient gray sky, you walk into the shadow of a stone giant.

The building does not brag. It just breathes, each block a memory stacked on another, the kind of permanence that lets the heart unclench.

Around you the day splashes into color. Umbrellas bloom like small lanterns, strangers laugh and shoulder past, a moving fresco in slow rain.

A bronze statue keeps its quiet post, rain beading into a polished second skin, and you feel that easy conspiracy of past and present, both rooting for you to keep going.

You are small and it is good. The world is larger than your worries, older than your mistakes, generous enough to lend its roof while the clouds take their time.

In this weather truth travels slow and hope has room to stretch.
