Lyon

Lyon, late afternoon, and the river keeps its own quiet promises.

Stone and water settle into a truce shaped by appetite and ambition. Warm light drapes the facades and the day exhales. I listen for the hush between footsteps and engines, that narrow space where the city seems to speak more clearly. This is the hour when people move through the streets as if they are split between dream and duty. The current carries its small secrets downstream while the windows catch fire in the sun, bright without violence. My shoulders loosen.

The city seems to say, stay a little longer, and I believe it. Some places train you to rush from one point to the next. Lyon invites a slower rhythm, a kind of floating attention where you notice the shape of a doorway, the bend of a street, the way conversation rises and falls near the water. History leans over the river and smiles. Tonight it feels like forgiveness.

A small permission to begin again.
